The Man Behind the Screen

Hello there! I’m Dusty Polk, a tech enthusiast with an insatiable curiosity for how things work. My journey with technology began in childhood when I would disassemble electronics (with varying success putting them back together). That early fascination evolved into a lifelong passion for building, experimenting, and learning.

Life Beyond the Keyboard

When I’m not immersed in my latest project, I’m a devoted husband and proud dog dad. My amazing wife deserves endless credit for supporting my ever-growing collection of gadgets and half-finished projects. Together with our playful 4-year-old beagle Chewy, we make a happy household where technology and warmth coexist.

Speaking of Chewy, he’s become an unexpected yet crucial part of my technical journey. He has a sixth sense for knowing exactly when I’m in the middle of a project and decides that’s the perfect moment for attention. His strategic interruptions provide much-needed breaks from screen time, and his curious nature has tested the durability of more than a few prototypes!

And then there’s Captain, our feline supervisor who oversees all household operations from his preferred vantage points. Unlike Chewy’s enthusiastic interruptions, Captain offers silent judgment from atop his loft. He’s perfected the art of walking across keyboards at precisely the moment I’m writing critical code, and has an uncanny ability to find the warmest spot on any electronics I’m working with. Despite his mischief, his purring presence during late-night coding sessions has been the soundtrack to many of my best ideas.

My Technical Playground

My approach to technology has always been hands-on and exploratory. Rather than a straight career path, I’ve zigzagged through different areas that captured my interest. Hardware hacking with Arduino and Raspberry Pi sits alongside software development projects. I find particular joy in automation—creating systems that handle tedious tasks so humans can focus on more creative endeavors.

The tech landscape never stops evolving, and I embrace that constant change. Each new technology represents not just a tool but a fresh perspective on solving problems. This mindset keeps me learning, adapting, and growing continually.
